Pellegrino, the lone American-based horse entered in the $1.79 million Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Sha Tin on April 24, has been withdrawn because of a fever he contracted over the weekend. A Brazilian-bred 6-year-old, Pelle-grino had been due to depart from Los Angeles for Hong Kong on Saturday night, but the fever kept him in his stall. . . . Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino canceled racing on Monday because of severe storms in the Opelousas, La., area. Racing is scheduled to resume Thursday.
