Dubawi, current favorite for both the English 2000 Guineas and the Epsom Derby, cruised to a four-length victory in a one-mile private Godolphin Trial at Nad Al Sheba on Monday, finishing in 1:37.70 on good-to-firm turf with Frankie Dettori riding. The undefeated winner of the seven-furlong Group 1 National Stakes at The Curragh in his most recent start on Sept. 19, Dubawi will proceed directly to the one-mile 2000 Guineas at Newmarket April 30. . . . Ruwi prepped for the May 15 French Derby with a three-length victory in the Group 2 Prix Noailles at Longchamp on Sunday. On very heavy ground, Ruwi came from last to first to defeat Gold Sound in a time of 2:21.10 for the 1 1/4 miles. . . . Rhein Kraft held off the late charge of Cesario to land the $1.9 million Oka Sho, or Japanese 1000 Guineas, at Hanshin on Sunday. An End Sweep filly trained by Tsutomo Setoguchi, Rhein Kraft scored by a head as 3.60-1 second choice in a field of 18, covering the Grade 1 classic mile on firm ground in 1:33.50.
