Until further notice, horses arriving at Canterbury Park from Florida or Kentucky must have a certificate of veterinary inspection dated within three days of their arrival. The certificate must include a declaration by the examining vet that the horse has not been under quarantine for or exposed to strangles and has not shown signs of the disease, and the horse must have a temperature under 102 degrees. . . . An apparent tornado struck Ocala, Fla., Thursday afternoon, leaving a trail of damage at area horse facilities, but no serious human or equine injuries were reported on farms. Around the area, however, there were four reported injuries, including one woman who was severely injured when a tree limb crashed into her truck. . . . Jockey Ramsey Zimmerman won the last four races at Fairmount Park on Thursday, all on horses saddled by leading trainer Ralph Martinez. Zimmerman has won with 26 of 67 mounts in the Fairmount meet's first two weeks to lead the rider standings. . . . Trainer Troy Young swept the first two positions in Thursday night's Inaugural Handicap, the first stakes run at the new Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino. Both the winner, J. D.'s Blue Bayou ($5), and runner-up, Smilin Fine, are owned by Valene Farms.
