Kicking King, the 4-1 favorite in Friday's Grade 1, $704,000 Cheltenham Gold Cup Chase, took over from pacesetter Grey Abbey at the third-last of 22 fences and went on to a five-length victory over the 25-1 Take the Stand. Fasig-Tipton Midlantic will hold an additional 2-year-old and horses of racing age sale in Timonium, Md., on June 28. The auction house has scheduled the extra sale day because Timonium's stable area cannot accommodate all the horses slated to sell at Fasig-Tipton's May sale from May 23-24.
