Tampa Bay Downs set a record for all-sources handle last Saturday when $5,359,437 was bet on its 12-race Festival Preview Day card, which included three stakes, the Sam F. Davis, the Endeavour, and Suncoast. The previous record of $5,353,782 was set last year on Festival Day, a 13-race card highlighted by the Tampa Bay Derby. . . . Todd Pletcher leads all trainers with 17 3-year-olds nominated to the Grade 2, $500,000 Lane's End, to be run March 26 at Turfway Park, with Nick Zito having the second-highest number, 9. Among the 130 horses nominated are Afleet Alex, Closing Argument, High Fly, Proud Accolade, Rockport Harbor, Scipion, Sort It Out, Straight Line, and Sun King. . . . Edward Robinson, a longtime employee of Daily Racing Form, died Friday at age 83 in St. Mary's General Hospital in Kitchener, Ontario. Robinson joined DRF's track and field department in 1966 and retired in 1993.
