The Jockey Club and Equibase plan to start converting Canadian earnings to their equivalent in U.S. dollars Jan. 1, 2005. The conversion will be evident in publication when the Thoroughbred meets at Woodbine and Stampede Park begin in 2005. . . . Ted Brown, a longtime trainer in Nebraska, died Sunday at age 70, a day before he was to have heart surgery. Brown is survived by his wife, Phyllis, and two sons. . . . The Kentucky Equine Education Project, a grassroots effort to promote the horse industry and its economic impact in Kentucky, has named Mike Owens, manager of Cobra Farm, as its Fayette County representative. The organization also has added to its board of directors Earl Rogers, president of the Kentucky Walking Horse Association.
