Etc. . . .

Shirocco outdueled Electrocutionist to win the Group 1 Gran Premio del Jockey Club and Coppa d'Oro at San Siro in Milan on Sunday by a nose. Shirocco, the 9-10 favorite, was on the lead after the first quarter-mile, and at the eighth pole it looked as if Electrocutionist would blow by him, but Shirocco dug in and prevailed, going 1 1/2 miles in 2:31.60. . . . Stroll, winner of the Grade 1 Woodford Reserve Turf Classic at Churchill this year, will enter stud at Claiborne Farm in Paris, Ky., in 2005 with a $7,500 fee.
