James Michael McGrath, 76, a retired jockey's agent who once represented Hall of Fame riders Braulio Baeza and Angel Cordero Jr., died Monday after a lengthy illness. A funeral mass is scheduled for Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Greenfield Center, N.Y. . . . A federal judge in Louisville, Ky., was expected to rule Wednesday on whether to allow jockeys to wear advertising in Saturday's Kentucky Derby. . . . A total of 85 horses were entered in nine races Saturday as Fort Erie drew its opening-day card on Tuesday. This year's Fort Erie meeting has been scheduled for 81 days and will end on Sept. 6. . . . Jockey Ken Shino recorded his 2000th career win Friday, April 23, at Prairie Meadows.
