Etc. . . .

The now-10-year-old lovable loser Zippy Chippy will put his epic 0-for-89 record on the line Sunday in a maiden race at Northampton, where last year he was beaten by just a head in a similar race. Sunday's race is his first since running last, beaten 32 1/2 lengths, at Penn National in February. . . . Kipperscope missed a world record by one-fifth of a second Thursday at Calder. Ridden by Cornelio Velasquez, he won a 5-furlong overnight turf handicap in 55 seconds, just missing the time run by Heckofaralph in the 1998 Calder Turf Sprint. . . . Keeneland honored owner and breeder W. T. Young with a gold tray on Thursday evening to commemorate his runners' eight graded stakes victories at the spring meeting. Young's Overbrook Farm became the 12th stable to earn a gold tray for winning eight graded stakes at a Keeneland meet when Penny's Gold won the April 12 Jenny Wiley Stakes, a Grade 3.
