Goldinrunner has been named 2003 Thoroughbred of the year by the Michigan racing commission. As a 4-year-old gelding, Goldinrunner recorded four wins, eight seconds, and one third out of 13 starts, earning $152,008 for the year. . . . Earle I. Mack, a horse owner and former board member of the New York Racing Association, is expected to be nominated by President Bush to be ambassador to Finland, The Record of Bergen County, N.J., reported. The nomination of Mack, a major Republican Party fundraiser, would have to be approved by the U.S. Senate.
