Longtime horseman Drexel "Andy" Engel died Monday in Columbus, Neb., at age 79 after a long illness. Engel, who competed at racetracks in the Midwest during six decades, is survived by his wife, Donna, and four sons, two of whom are trainers. . . . Dana Broccoli and Jane Engelhard, widows of prominent racehorse owners, died last week. Broccoli, 82, had been married to Albert "Cubby" Broccoli, the producer of James Bond movies whose best horse was Brocco, the 1993 Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner, while Engelhard, 86, was the wife of industrialist Charles Engelhard, one of racing's best-known international sportsmen in the 1960's.
