Etc. . . .

About 50 friends and family members gathered Wednesday in Parnell, Mo., to say goodbye to H.A. "Jimmy" Jones, trainer during the glory years of Calumet Farm, who died on Sunday at age 94. He was buried near his father, trainer B.A. "Plain Ben" Jones, in Rose Hill Cemetery after a service at Price Funeral Home in Maryville, Mo. . . . Evangeline Downs in Lafayette, La., handled an average $1,363,583 a night during its 82-day meet that closed Monday, an 11 percent drop from the corresponding season a year ago. . . . Hill 'n' Dale Farms in Lexington, Ky., has privately purchased a controlling interest in Grade 1 winner El Corredor and will stand the Mr. Greeley colt when he retires. El Corredor, a 4-year-old son of Silvery Swan (Silver Deputy) trained by Bob Baffert, is pointing for the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Sprint.
