After a six-day carryover, the pick six at Oaklawn Park was hit on Sunday, with two winning tickets worth $283,003 each. One ticket was sold at The Woodlands in Kansas City, Kan., and the other at a hub in Florida. . . . Jay Frank Northcutt, the leading apprentice rider and third-leading rider in the nation in 1959, died Saturday in Ocala, Fla., of cancer at age 61. Northcutt continued to ride into the 1990's and then worked as a valet at Thistledown. . . . Colts by Golden Missile and Smoke Glacken ran the fastest eighth-mile works - 10 seconds flat - on the Calder turf Sunday at Fasig-Tipton's final under-tack show before its Feb. 24 select 2-year-old auction at Calder in Miami. The fastest time at the distance on the main track was the 10.20 seconds that a Gone West filly put up. . . . Ed Blaser, a retired lieutenant colonel in the Louisville, Ky., police department, has been named director of security at Churchill Downs. He replaces Bob Bailey, who is retiring after 15 years working for the track.
