The condition of Hallowed Dreams, who still had a high temperature Tuesday morning after twice displaying symptoms of heat stroke following her third-place finish in the $50,000 Monique Rene Handicap last Sunday at Louisiana Downs in Bossier City, La., is improving. "Her temperature has gone down, and she is eating good," said Selina Bremermann, assistant to trainer Lloyd Romero, adding, "We're headed in the right direction." . . . Jewell Ridge, dam of 1996 champion older mare Jewel Princess, died, apparently of a heart attack, on Aug. 1 at John Franks's Franks Farms in Ocala, Fla. She was 16. In addition to Jewel Princess, her best foal, Jewell Ridge also produced stakes-winner Topaz Runner and stakes-placed Precious Jewell.
