Chris Thomas, a Florida radio and television personality and horse owner, died Wednesday of cancer at age 55. Thomas won an Eclipse Award in 1989 for his television retrospective on Secretariat. . . . Trademark, winner of the Bernard Baruch and Fourstardave for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin at Saratoga last summer, will start in the Al Rashidiya Stakes at Nad Al Sheba on Saturday for his new trainer, Sateesh Seemar. The 1 1/8-mile turf race is a prep for the Group 1 Dubai Duty Free on March 27. . . . Beulah Park set a handle record Monday when $2,611,746 was wagered on its nine-race program. That topped the old record of $1.98 million set last month. . . . Platinum Tiara, a stakes winner at 2, 3, and 4, delivered her first foal on Feb. 10 at Stolen Hours Farm in Ocala, Fla. The foal, a filly by A.P. Indy, was bred in partnership by M375 Thoroughbreds and Lane's End Farm.
