A bill that would have legalized a type of slot machine at Hoosier Park and Indiana Downs in Indiana has been assigned to the state's Senate Rules Committee, which is expected to let the bill die without a vote. The bill, which would have allowed 1,000 slots at each of the tracks, passed the Indiana House last week. . . . Larry Christopher, chairman of the Texas Racing Commission from 1995 to 2001, has been elected president of the Texas Thoroughbred Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association. Christopher, who is a past board member of the Association of Racing Commissioners International, has as his principal business a molding manufacturing plant he owns in Crockett, Texas.
