Julio P. Gonzalez, a former jockey and jockey agent who emigrated to the United States from his native Cuba in 1948, died of a heart attack in Louisville, Ky., on Dec. 6 at age 80. He is survived by his wife, Glenora, three sons, and four stepsons. . . . Delta Downs, which has had an increase in handle since the running of the $1 million Delta Jackpot on Dec. 5, will add an additional race to each of its programs beginning on Wednesday, Jan. 21. The cards, which will now be made up of 11 races, will start at 6:20 p.m. Central. . . . Johnny Murtagh, one of Ireland's leading riders, will ride for British-based trainer David Loder this year. Murtagh ended his relationship with Irish trainer John Oxx at the end of the 2003 season. . . . Chad Johnson has been named farm manager at Marablue Farm in Reddick, Fla. Johnson also owns Mossy Oak Farm. . . . . Kelly Kenney has been named production supervisor for The Jockey Club. . . . British jockeys have accepted a 6 percent increase in riding fees effective Feb. 1. Their arrangement with Britain's Racehorse Owners Association means that flat riders will receive $147 per mount and jump riders will get $200 per mount.
