The effort by Hastings to install slot machines suffered a serious setback Tuesday when the Vancouver, British Columbia, City Council voted not to consider slots at Hastings for at least six months. In a separate vote, the council allowed for a proposal to put in slots at the Plaza of Nations, a combined operation of Grand and Royal Diamond casinos, to move to public hearings. . . . Breeders' Cup has reached an agreement that will allow Scientific Games, the largest lottery supplier in the country, to sell Breeders' Cup-themed games to states. Scientific Games will have the right to use all Breeders' Cup logos and trademarks in the production of scratch-off tickets and other games.
