Jamie Spencer has been named by trainer Aidan O'Brien as Ballydoyle's first-string rider, replacing Michael Kinane, who announced his departure Friday. Kinane, meanwhile, has been named to ride first-string next year for trainer John Oxx, taking over from Johnny Murtagh. . . . Greta Kuntzweiler won the final two races of the five-race Female Jockey Challenge series to capture the event at Hoosier Park on Saturday. Kuntzweiler was aboard Whysoshy ($5) in the seventh race and Retro Red ($5.80) in the eighth. . . . Sixteen-year-old apprentice jockey Mick Ruis had his fourth four-victory card at the Turf Paradise meet Saturday. The four wins gave Ruis a total of 48 for the meet, well clear of journeymen Steve Gomez (26 victories), Scott Stevens (25), and Glen Corbett (23). . . . Semoran and American Spirit, both Grade 3 winners, have joined the stallion roster at Q6 Ranch in Belton, Texas. Semoran will stand for a fee of $3,000, while American Spirit, a freshman sire for 2004, will stand for $1,500.
