With a $160,000 sale-topping filly by Event of the Year, the Barretts October yearling sale Tuesday in Pomona, Calif., sold 236 lots for $3,214,000, up 18 percent from last year's sale, which sold 215 for $2,721,900. The average price jumped 8 percent this year to $13,619, and the median gained 19 percent to $9,500. . . . Philadelphia Park will expand its live racing schedule to include Fridays from Nov. 7 through the end of the year. Post time for the first race will be 12:25 p.m. Eastern. . . . A judge for the Superior Court of California on Tuesday granted Breeders' Cup a temporary restraining order that prohibits Jockeys' Management Group from soliciting corporate sponsorships for jockeys on Breeders' Cup day this year. Breeders' Cup had contended that JMG was improperly using its logos and trademarks and that the sponsorships would infringe on Breeders' Cup's rights.
