Fasig-Tipton Midlantic's Eastern fall yearling sale neared its close Tuesday, with a $125,000 Malibu Moon colt the early session-leader. The two-day auction sold 235 head at its opener on Monday. . . . A little more than two weeks after her Gone West yearling sold for $1.6 million at the Keeneland September sale, 9-year-old broodmare A.P. Assay died after a pasture accident at Lane's End Farm. The A.P. Indy mare broke her neck during a lightning storm and was euthanized on Sept. 27. . . . Fort Erie canceled its Tuesday card after four races, after rain led to track conditions that were judged to be unsafe. Racing is to resume Saturday.
