Collier Gold, ridden by Santos Carrizales, paid $256 to win Wednesday when he won the eighth race at Retama Park. The payoff was a record for the San Antonio-area track, and one bettor had the trifecta with Latexo and Texas Holdem for a $21,425 return on a $2 ticket. . . . Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer saddled four winners from five starters Wednesday at Bay Meadows, all ridden by Russell Baze. Hollendorfer won both ends of the daily double, with Roar Madness ($3) in the first and Surviving Nature ($2.80) in the second, then saddled At a Boy Luther ($6.40) to win the fifth and Tributetothatcher ($3.80) in the seventh. . . . Denis Blake has been named editor of The Texas Thoroughbred magazine, replacing Lisa Marie Wood, who is moving out of state. Blake has been field editor for The American Quarter Horse Racing Journal since June 2001.
