There will be no live racing at Los Alamitos on Thursday in remembrance of those who died in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Live racing will return on Friday. . . . Charlie Reynolds, a former rider and longtime trainer, died last week in New York at age 89. He is survived by his wife, Julie, and nephew Patrick Reynolds, currently a trainer on the New York circuit. . . . Two-time Grade 3 winner David Copperfield, a 6-year-old Halo horse out of stakes winner Bannockburn (Count Brook), has been retired from racing to stand his first year at stud at Rick Trontz's Hopewell Farm in Kentucky. No fee has been set yet. . . . Hoosier Park has applied for 60 Thoroughbred racing dates in 2004, from Sept. 2 through Nov. 21, down from the 70 dates the track is scheduled to run this year. Indiana Downs has applied for 48 Thoroughbred dates, up from 30 this year, from April 16 through July 5.
