Etc. . . .

Pat B. Devereux Sr., the only trainer in Keeneland history to win the same stakes with the same horse three years in a row, died early Sunday at his Lexington, Ky., home following a brief illness at age 77. Devereux trained Royal Harmony to win the Fayette Handicap in 1969, 1970, and 1971. . . . Rafael Bejarano, the leading rider at the Ellis Park meet, has appealed a suspension dealt him Sunday by the Ellis stewards. Bejarano was suspended for seven days for his role in the disqualification of his mount, Doubly Hard, from second to third in the fifth race Saturday.
