Etc. . . .

Eileen Barrett Quigley, the wife of longtime New Jersey Thoroughbred racing official Robert J. Quigley, died Thursday after a long battle with cancer. She was 48. She was executive secretary at The Meadowlands when the track opened and later held a variety of staff positions there. She also worked at Garden State Park, Philadelphia Park, Retama Park, and Freehold Raceway. . . . The Maryland Jockey Club canceled Saturday's $75,000 Dave's Friend at Pimlico because trainers declined to enter their horses against Disco Rico, a winner of his last three starts, including a pair of Pimlico stakes.
