Etc. . . .

For the second time this meeting, Evangeline Downs in Lafayette, La., has announced a purse increase. Beginning Thursday, overnight purses will be worth an additional $1,000, although there will be no change to the stakes schedule. . . . Godolphin scored another big-race triumph at Munich on Sunday when Kutub took the 1 1/4-mile Bayerisches Zuchtrennen. The four-length victory of Kutub, a 4-year-old son of In the Wings, over Krombacher gave rider Frankie Dettori his third Group 1 victory of the week. . . . Jockey Steve Bourque, based for the first time at Retama Park near San Antonio, won four races Sunday night from eight mounts. Bourque won the fifth race with Hawaiian Crane ($4.40), the seventh with Halo's Shadow ($4.20), the eighth with Classic Terms ($5.40), and the 10th with Rather Russian ($18.80). . . . Remington Park in Oklahoma City, which opens Saturday, has renamed the Slide Show Stakes the Adena Springs Matchmaker Turf Sprint to reflect the race's new sponsor, Adena Springs Farm in Kentucky. The first three finishers in the five-furlong turf race for fillies and mares on Sept. 16 will earn a free season to one of three stallions standing at Adena: Golden Missle, Running Stag, or Wild Rush.
