Funeral services for Robert H. Walter, a prominent California breeder and owner, will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at St. Sebastian's Church in Sebastopol, Calif. Walter, owner and breeder of the 1996 Kentucky Derby runner-up, Cavonnier, and breeder of millionaires Tout Charmant and Lazy Slusan, died Wednesday at age 86 of acute leukemia. . . . Stampede Park, in Calgary, Alberta, canceled its Friday and Saturday programs after snow and rain caused poor track conditions. The track was scheduled to reopen Sunday, with the President's Handicap, originally carded as Saturday's feature, the last of nine races. . . . Television ratings for Kentucky Derby-themed programming on ESPN and ESPN2 in the week before the race increased by an average of 36 percent this year over 2002, according to figures released by the National Thoroughbred Racing Association on Friday. The NTRA also said ratings for nine ESPN or ESPN2 broadcasts of Triple Crown prep races were up 41 percent over last year.
