The Louisiana Racing Commission on Monday gave conditional approval to the transfer of 50 percent interest in Evangeline Downs in Lafayette to Peninsula Gaming Partners, LLC, which operates a riverboat casino in Iowa. William Trotter, a businessman in Lafayette, will retain 50 percent interest in Evangeline Downs. . . . Kentucky-based stallion Shuailaan (Roberto-Lassie's Lady, by Alydar), sire of stakes winner Lost in Paradise, will stand the 2001 Southern Hemisphere season at Haras Barlovento in Lima, Peru. Shuailaan, who stood this year for $6,000 at Hurstland Farm in Midway, Ky., will stand in Peru for Boris Schwartzman as part of a deal arranged by Pedigree Productions, a Lexington agency owned by Sissy Woolums.
