Etc. . . .

Pimlico Race Course officials said Thursday that the track broke all of its handle records on Preakness Day. All-sources handle for the day was $62.6 million on the 12-race card, shattering the previous record of $49.5 million, set in 1999, by 21 percent. . . . A bill that would funnel evening simulcasting revenue at Fairmount Park into that track's Thoroughbred purse structure was defeated by one vote in the Illinois House of Representatives on Wednesday. But rules of procedure allowed the bill to be reintroduced Thursday, an action the bill's sponsors said they intended to take, and a House re-vote was slated for early Thursday evening.
