Lone Star Park will play host to the annual Organization of Racing Investigators Conference, March 10-13. The group includes local and state police and track security personnel from 37 states, as well as Australia, Canada, England, and Hong Kong. . . . The third annual TVG Viewers' Choice Awards will be announced on Monday, Feb. 17, on a live 90-minute program from 8:30-10 p.m. Eastern on TVG, hosted by Caton Bredar and Greg Wolf. The awards, determined by an online poll of TVG viewers, cover 20 categories in Thoroughbred, Standardbred, and Quarter Horse racing. Sabertooth, winner of the Grade 3 Longacres Mile at Emerald Downs last year, was named 2002 Washington-bred horse of the year Saturday by the Washington Thoroughbred Breeders Association. . . . Brenda Walker, who has been involved in the Standardbred racing industry for 28 years, has been appointed to a three-year term as a member of the Ontario Racing Commission. Walker has served as a director of the Ontario Harness Horse Association since 1994. . . . Rodney Prescott collected his 1,000th career win with a victory aboard My Name's Jamie in the first race at Turfway Park on Sunday.
