The Japan Racing Association canceled all of its racing this weekend because of an outbreak of equine influenza at unnamed training facilities. Six programs at Sapporo, Niigata, and Kokura scheduled for Saturday and Sunday were canceled Friday when 29 of 163 samples taken from horses entered to run over the weekend tested positive. . . . Frank Stronach’s Adena Springs operation will offer dual Grade 1 winners Spun Sugar, in foal to A.P. Indy, and Amorama, in foal to Ghostzapper, at Keeneland’s November breeding stock sale. Hidden Brook Farm will act as consignor. . . . Richland Hills Farm in Midway, Ky., will add three new stallions to its roster for 2008. They are Grade 3 winners Storm Surge (Storm Cat-Especially, by Mr. Prospector) and Purim (Dynaformer-Kirsteena, by Lord at War) and Grade 3-placed Cougar Cat (Storm Cat-Excellent Meeting, by General Meeting). . . . Michael Paulson has sold Grade 1 winner Startac to a syndicate that will stand him in Australia at Westbury Stud, according to trade publication reports. . . .The Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co.’s August yearling sale is to run this Monday through Thursday. The auction in Ocala, Fla., includes a single select session on Aug. 20, followed by four open sessions for a total of 1,508 yearlings to sell.
