Etc. . . .

Saturday is Jockeys Across America Day to benefit the Don MacBeth Memorial Jockeys Fund, which provides aid to injured and disabled riders. Jockeys at more than 50 tracks will participate in autograph sessions, footraces, and other activities - Joe De Francis, CEO of Pimlico, will be in a dunking booth - to raise money for the fund, which can be reached online at www.macbethfund.org. . . . Trainer Aidan O'Brien has announced that Galileo will definitely run once before embarking on his late-season campaign of the Irish Champion Stakes, the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, and the Breeders' Cup Classic. O'Brien meets with owners John Magnier and Michael Tabor this weekend to choose the next race, which may be either the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes on July 28 or the Juddmonte International on Aug. 21. . . . Ten amateur jockeys will square off Saturday at Rockingham Park in the second leg of the Amateur Riders Club of America National Championship Series. The conditions of the race, a mile event on turf carded as Rockingham's fourth, were written so that the minimum weight a horse will carry is 131 pounds.
