Vital King outgamed the odds-on Floral Pegasus to win the $2 million Hong Kong Derby at Sha Tin on Sunday, thus denying the favorite the chance to become the first Triple Crown winner in Hong Kong history. A New Zealand-bred 4-year-old ridden by Brent Prebble for trainer Paul O'Sullivan, Vital King prevailed by a nose, covering the 1 1/4 miles on a good turf course in 2:02.90 at 10-1. Vital King will go next in the Queen Elizabeth II Cup on April 29 against a group of international invaders. . . . Churchill Downs will host another major concert when The Police brings its reunion tour to the track on July 14, six days after the end of the spring meet, with tickets - priced at $225, $90, and $50 - to be available Monday, March 26, at 10 a.m. Eastern through Ticketmaster, not the track. Churchill staged its first concert last September, when the Rolling Stones appeared before some 40,000 fans, playing on a stage just inside the turf course in the infield, between the eighth pole and sixteenth pole.
