Tampa Bay Downs announced Tuesday that all horses shipping onto its grounds must provide a veterinary certificate noting the horse has been vaccinated for equine herpes between 14 and 120 days of arrival. In addition, no horses will be admitted into the barn area for stabling or training from Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. . . . Thoroughbred Charities of America has received a $250,000 gift from an anonymous donor to create a permanent endowment for the charitable organization. . . . The Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation announced Tuesday that a Colorado State University research project studying how small differences in fetlock shape can be related to condylar fracture will receive the fund's first Elastikon Equine Research Award. . . . The Turkish Jockey Club announced on Tuesday that the Group 2 Topkapi Mile, scheduled for Sept. 9 at Veliefendi Racecourse in Istanbul, would become Europe's first one-mile race worth $1 million. The race was worth $250,000 last year. . . . Rillito Park, in Tucson, Ariz., has named a race on its closing day program this Sunday in honor of Pete Selin, a graduate of the University of Arizona's Race Track Industry Program who died of leukemia in January 2006 at age 52. After graduating in 2000, Selin worked in the Lone Star Park publicity department, and later freelanced for the Texas Thoroughbred magazine and Tampa Bay Downs. . . . The Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association will relocate its October yearling and mixed sale, scheduled for Oct. 15-16, from Louisiana Downs in Bossier City, La., to the Ike Hamilton Equine Exposition Center in West Monroe, La.
