Etc. . . .

Led by Legacy Farm's $20,000 broodmare Overdue Number, a daughter of Polish Numbers in foal to Red Bullet and sold to Heather Larson, Fasig-Tipton Midlantic's winter mixed sale Monday in Timonium, Md., sold 45 horses for $253,200, yielding an average price of $5,627 and a $4,000 median. The gross fell sharply from last year, when 117 horses brought $514,700, while the 2007 average increased 28 percent and the median doubled from last year, with buy-backs dropping by 34 percent to 26 percent. . . . Because of extreme cold, Philadelphia Park canceled its racing program on Monday, and Beulah Park canceled its Monday and Tuesday cards. The cancellations at Beulah were the first full cards lost at the track in over 13 months. . . . Penn National called off Tuesday night's program because of cold weather.
