The first foal for 2005 Horse of the Year Saint Liam, who died after standing just one season at Lane's End in Kentucky, was born on Jan. 11 at ClassicStar Farm near Versailles, Ky. The bay Saint Liam colt is out of Slewzig, by Seattle Slew, making him a full sibling to Texas stakes winner Angelica Slew and a half-sibling to stakes winners Sandia Slew and Chantilly Princess. . . . Paul Saylor, owner of 2006 older female champion Fleet Indian, has established the $24,000 Fleet Indian Scholarship for New York students seeking a career in the racing industry. The Fasig-Tipton Company also has contributed to the scholarship, which will be administered by The Race for Education, of which Saylor is a director.
