Trainer Art Sherman was fined $3,000 by the stewards at Golden Gate Fields after a horse in his care, Fargoabargain, tested in excess of the permitted level for clenbuterol, a Class 3 violation. Fargoabargain finished first in the fourth race at Bay Meadows last May 14. . . . Trainer Jeff Mullins won his 1,000th race on Sunday when he sent out A Shore Thing to victory in the first race at Santa Anita. . . . Turfway Park canceled after two races Sunday, citing severe cold. . . . Mountaineer Race Track also canceled after two races Sunday, then called off its Monday and Tuesday night programs because of poor track conditions. . . . Fasig-Tipton has cataloged 641 horses for its Kentucky winter mixed sale in Lexington, Ky., on Feb. 11-12. The catalog includes 150 yearlings, more than 160 broodmares, and almost 200 racing and/or broodmare prospects, in addition to an array of racing-age horses, stallions, and stallion prospects.
