Alfred "Alfie" Bellew, 95, believed to be Thoroughbred racing's oldest licensed official, died Jan. 13. Bellew served as a state steward, clerk of scales, and paddock judge at River Downs until August 2004. . . . Quendom, the 10-year-old dam of leading 2006 Horse of the Year contender Invasor, will be bred in 2007 to Distorted Humor, according to Hill 'n' Dale Farms, where she resides. . . . The first foal for 2004 Horse of the Year Ghostzapper, a colt out of Adena Springs's Grade 3-placed Dash for Money, was born on Jan. 12 at Adena Springs North in Aurora, Ontario, Canada. Ghostzapper's second foal and first filly, out of graded-placed stakes winner Wilzada, arrived two days later at ClassicStar in Versailles, Ky.
