Racing was canceled at Delaware Park after five races Saturday because of unsafe track conditions. Day-long rains mixed with intermittent downpours made the track extremely wet and unsafe. ... Robert Forbeck, director of marketing and communications at Turfway Park the last two years, has resigned that position to become an advertising account executive at WLW-AM (700), the leading radio station in the greater Cincinnati market. No replacement has yet been named for Forbeck. . . . A $1 million pledge by the Werblin Foundation to Rutgers University for the addition of a 4,000-square-foot multipurpose area at the Sonny Werblin Recreation Center in the memory of Mrs. David A. Werblin was announced this week. Mrs. Werblin, who died in 1999, raced Thoroughbreds with her husband as the Elberon Farm until Mr. Werblin's death in 1991. . . . Prince Ahmed bin Salman has announced he will donate 1 percent of Point Given's Preakness and Belmont Stakes winnings, or $13,000, to the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation in support of equine veterinary research. . . .The Jockey Club Information Systems has appointed four new members to its board of directors: bloodstock agent Reynolds Bell Jr., Darby Dan Farm owner and breeder John W. Phillips, New York Racing Association trustee C. Steven Duncker, and TJCIS president Carl E. Hamilton. . . . Rick Trontz's Hopewell Farm near Midway, Ky., has named Dr. Pam Robinson its farm manager. . . . WinStar Farm in Versailles, Ky., which stands Kris S. and Victory Gallop among others, has named Jack Mullikin corporate controller. . . . Ellis Park in Henderson, Ky., will hold a "Scholarship Day at the Races" on Aug. 5 and award $1,000 scholarships to nine random students.
