Ronald "Tex" Cauthen, father of Hall of Fame rider Steve Cauthen, died at his Walton, Ky., home on Monday at age 77. Cauthen, a renowned racetrack farrier, and his wife, Myra Bischoff, a trainer and owner, were the parents of three sons - Steve, Doug, and Kerry - all of whom followed them into the horse business. . . . Grade 1 winner Fantastic Look, dam of 2004 Shoemaker BC Mile winner Designed for Luck, died in California on May 29 after producing a healthy Salt Lake colt. The Green Dancer mare was 23 and was in the Mabee family's Golden Eagle Farm broodmare band in Ramona, Calif. . . . Immerse, the dam of Grade 1 winner and sire Stephen Got Even, was euthanized May 14 in New York after developing post-foaling complications. Her Hook and Ladder colt is fine and on a nurse mare, said Jeff Raine, manager of Chester Broman's Chestertown Farm in Chestertown, N.Y. The Grade 1-placed Cox's Ridge mare was 21. . . . Oaklawn Park has promoted John Hopkins to plant superintendent and Jason Milligan to director of operations. Hopkins will oversee the maintenance of the facility, while Milligan will supervise floor managers and track security.
