Bob Black Jack has been named the California-bred horse of the year for 2008 by the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association. By Stormy Jack and out of the Native Prospector mare Molly's Prospector, Bob Black Jack won 2 of 6 races, including the Grade 1 Malibu, and earned $463,500 last year. . . . TVG, in partnership with Emerald Downs, begins 2009 coverage of horse racing from Japan with Sunday's February Stakes from Tokyo. TVG has renewed its contract with the Japan Racing Association to be the U.S. account-wagering provider for Japanese racing. . . . Hat Trick, 2005's champion Japanese miler and a record-setting son of Sunday Silence, will shuttle from Walmac Farm in Lexington, Ky., to Haras el Mallin near Buenos Aires, Argentina, at the end of the 2009 Northern Hemisphere breeding season. The 8-year-old Hat Trick, a two-time Group 1 winner, stands in the U.S. for $12,500.
