Gottcha Gold, a multiple Grade 3 winner, will retire in time to enter stud in 2009 at Mike O'Farrell's Ocala Stud in Ocala, Fla., the farm announced Thursday. A 5-year-old Coronado's Quest horse, Gottcha Gold is pointing for the Grade 3 Fred W. Hooper Handicap at Calder on Dec. 13. . . . Laurel Park applied on Thursday for 59 days of live racing for the winter meet scheduled to begin Jan. 1, the same number of days the track ran in this year's winter meet. . . . Day 4 at the Goffs November foal sale in County Kildare, Ireland, saw continued losses compared with last year's auction. The Thursday session sold 129 horses for about $2,658,808 for an average price of about $20,610. Gross was down by 61 percent and average by 52 percent from last year's fourth session, when 159 horses sold. Buy-backs rose from 16 percent in 2007 to 37 percent this year.
