Edgar Allen, the former director of publicity at Churchill Downs, died Wednesday of complications of Alzheimer's disease and pneumonia in his hometown of Nashville at age 84. Allen, a longtime sportswriter for the now-defunct Nashville Banner, worked for 10 years at Churchill, starting in 1979. . . . Youbet.com, the online broadcasting and wagering company, will restate its earnings for 2007 to a loss of $28.4 million, $1.1 million higher than initially reported, the company announced Friday. Youbet.com said the restatement was caused by an error in calculating an earn-out payment to the former owners of IRG, an offshore rebate shop that Youbet purchased in 2005 and closed late last year. . . . Grade 1-winning millionaire Nobiz Like Shobiz will stand at Darby Dan Farm in 2009, the Lexington, Ky., farm announced Friday. His fee will be announced later. . . . The Tattersalls July sale ended Friday in Newmarket, England, with declines across the board, selling 507 horses for a total of about $15,545,191, for an average of about $30,661 and a median of approximately $16,341. Compared in the local currency of guineas, those figures were down 31 percent, 20 percent, and 28 percent, respectively.
