Jockey Francisco Torres picked up his 2,000th win in North America on Friday night at Evangeline Downs, when he rode Sammie Sam ($5.40) to a 4 1/4-length win in the $100,000 J. Archie Sebastien Memorial for owner Valene Farms and trainer Sturges Ducoing. Torres won his first career race at Hawthorne Race Course on Oct. 3, 1986. . . . . Ginger Punch has been assigned top weight of 124 pounds for the 71st renewal of the Grade 2, $1 million Delaware Handicap, to be run Sunday. Unbridled Belle, the defending champion in the 1 1/4-mile Delaware Handicap - which this year offers the winner a berth in the Breeders' Cup Ladies Classic (formerly the Distaff) - received second high weight of 122 pounds.
