A snowstorm forced the cancellation of Wednesday's racing program at Suffolk Downs, the track's first cancellation since last November. Live racing was scheduled to return Saturday, and a simulcast handicapping contest remained scheduled for Friday. . . . A $97,398 Pivotal colt brought the top price at the Tattersalls December foal sale's opener on Wednesday in Newmarket, England. In the first of four days' selling, 177 lots went for $1,166,429, up 210 percent from last year, when 107 sold, as the average price rose 47 percent to $11,549, and the median climbed 48 percent to $6,510. . . . City Street, winner of last year's 4 1/2-furlong Juvenile Stakes at Keeneland in track-record-equaling time of 51.00 seconds, has retired from racing and will stand for $1,000 at Bullard Farms in Weatherford, Texas. A 3-year-old son of Carson City, City Street also set a Churchill Downs track record for five furlongs in 57.20 last year and retires with a record of 3-2-0-0 and $78,785 in earnings.
