ETC. . . .

Barbara Holbrook, the trainer who was found dead of a gunshot wound in her Yorkville, Ind., home Tuesday, will be buried Wednesday near her hometown of Cheverly, Md., with a memorial service scheduled for 11 a.m. at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home in Silver Spring, Md. Holbrook, who was 52, is survived by her parents, Josephine and Bernard Hollis; two sisters; and a brother. . . . Three yearlings, mistaken as deer by two misguided hunters, were shot and killed at Nakamura Chikuzan Farm, owned by a prominent Japanese owner-breeder, Kazuo Nakamura, on Hokkaido Island in Japan on Wednesday. In violation of Japanese law, the two men were hunting deer before dawn when the accident occurred, and as a result, they failed to see the paddock fences in the dark and mistook the yearlings for deer. Among the stallions who stand at Nakamura Chikuzan is the 1993 Breeders' Cup Classic winner, Arcangues.
