With four of its five sessions complete on Tuesday the Deauville yearling sale in France, was running behind last year's auction. The average so far has fallen 27 percent to $86,400, and the buyback rate jumped from 19 percent to 32 percent. . . . Fort Erie canceled its 10-race card Tuesday, by a vote of the jockeys, who expressed concern over the condition of the racing surface on the backstretch. The track was sloppy Monday following afternoon rains. Racing is scheduled to resume Saturday.
