A bill that would permit gambling machines at Hoosier Park and at Indianapolis Downs, which is currently under construction, passed the Indiana House Ways and Means Committee on Wednesday by a vote of 19-6. The full House is expected to consider the bill on June 3. . . . The Maryland horse racing industry will receive $4.5 million in purse supplements from a fund created to back bonds to pay for racetrack renovations, an assistant attorney general for Maryland said. A bill passed this year earmarked money from the fund for purses, but language in the bill was unclear over whether to distribute $3 million or $4.5 million from the fund. . . .Our Mims, champion 3-year-old filly of 1977, will be the the headline competitor at the All-Thoroughbred Charity Horse Show at Turfway Park on Saturday and Sunday. The event is to benefit the ReRun Inc. and New Vocations Thoroughbred adoption programs.
