Mountaineer Gaming Inc., the owner of Mountaineer Race Track and Gaming Resort in West Virginia and several other gambling properties, had net income of $5.1 million in the first quarter of 2002, the company announced on Tuesday. The figure is up from $4.3 million in the first quarter of 2001. . . . The National Thoroughbred Racing Association has given syndicated radio host Don Imus $10,000 to wager on each Triple Crown race this year, with proceeds earmarked for the Imus Ranch, along with a $40,000 cash donation. Last year, a similar promotion netted $70,000 for the Imus Ranch, which gives children with cancer and siblings of victims of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome a chance to experience life on a working cattle ranch.
