All three race meetings in Britain - at Pontefract, Southwell, and Exeter - have been canceled on Tuesday, April 9, the day of the Queen Mother's funeral. Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, was one of Britain's leading jump racing owners since 1949. She died at the age of 101 on Saturday. . . . The Group 3 Prix Edmond Blanc, postponed when Saturday's card at Saint-Cloud in France was canceled because of the French parimutuel clerks' job action, is scheduled to be made up at the same track on Wednesday. . . . Jockey Chad Schvaneveldt fractured a left clavicle when his mount Moscow Princess suffered a fatal breakdown at the finish of Sunday's second race at Golden Gate Fields. Schvaneveldt is expected to miss four to six weeks. . . . Sarafan, recent winner of the Explosive Bid Handicap at the Fair Grounds, has been invited by the Hong Kong Jockey Club to run in the $1.8 million Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Sha Tin on April 21. The 1 1/4-mile Group 1 race will be the second leg of this year's expanded World Series Racing Championship. . . . Godolphin will hold its annual private trials at Nad Al Sheba on Wednesday night. Among the horses who will run on the unofficial four-race card will be Godolphin's leading 2000 Guineas hopeful, Meshaheer, who will be ridden by Frankie Dettori.
